2nds home to Kintore 2nds

The 2nd's first home game of the season saw a few changes to last weeks team. Bowlers Neil Wright and Pie being called up to the firsts and Tim McNiff and Andy Deady being unavaiable saw starts for Andy Swan, Allan Bell, Gupta and debutant Stuart Heyman. Once again, stand-in Captain, Mal won the toss and elected to bowl, using the pace of Andy Swan and Mark Honey to open up. Swanny's return to the field for QC was heralded by 2 wickets in his first 3 overs thanks largely to some beautiful slip catches by Richard and Russell. Mark continued his assertion of being the unluckiest bowler in the world as 5 catches were dropped from his bowling before he removed stubborn Kintore opener S. Davidson for 24. Allan Bell's first start of the season saw him come on first change to bowl his looping leg-spin and claim 4 for 50 thanks to 2 catches and a stumping from Ian Goodenough with the gloves. Ian finished the innings with another stumping as Kintore ended 159 all out. The target looked acheivable, having conceeded 228 runs in the same fixture last season. However, things started badly as the QC top order took great delight in playing rash shots and leaving the home side reeling at 28 for 6. A short partnership of 25 between Mark Honey and Allan Bell ended in Allan's stumping as (he claims) his bat stuck in the ground. The game was all over by 5.30 as last man out, Ian Lumsden played the ball straight back to the bowler to see QC all out for 59, 20 of which were extras. It was a poor performance from the home side, one we hope not to emulate again this season.
